It took until the seventh week of the season, but a Lower Bucks County football team in the Suburban One League has finally produced a victory that suggests it will in all probability result in a District 1 Class 6A playoff berth. This came when Neshaminy traveled to Pennridge on Saturday and hammered the Rams, 38-3. The fact Neshaminy won was not a big surprise. What nobody saw coming was it would be by 35 points. It started when quarterback Michael Eckhart scored on a 70-yard run on the first play of the game and Neshaminy never took its foot off the gas from there. The victory lifted Neshaminy to 5-2 and put it in a strong position to make the post season. Still remaining are games against Central Bucks East, Central Bucks South and Pennsbury. Even if the Redskins were to lose all three, they should have enough power points to make the 16-team field with a 5-5 record. Heading into this week’s play, Neshaminy is the only Lower Bucks Sub One team with a winning record. Pennsbury (3-4) at North Penn (6-1), Thursday, 7 p.m.: This doesn’t look good for the Falcons. Not only is Pennsbury’s offense struggling with just two touchdowns in the last two weeks, but North  Penn will be in a bad mood after losing to Central Bucks South, 14-6, last week in the battle of Suburban One League National Division unbeatens. The good news is the Falcons might still be able to squeeze into the playoffs if they can beat Abington and Neshaminy in the next two weeks. Central Bucks East (3-4) at Neshaminy (5-2), Thursday, 7 p.m.: With its rout of Pennridge, there’s no doubt surging Neshaminy is on the rise. Its defense has pretty much been there all year,  but now the offense is really coming alive. Against Pennridge, Eckhart was 8-for-9 for 119 yards and two touchdown passes. C.B. East will provide a test, but if Neshaminy plays anything like it did last week it will be 6-2 and in the playoffs. Council Rock South (3-4) at Souderton (4-3), Thursday, 7 p.m.: Rock South kept its faint playoff hopes alive with a 33-8 win over Truman, while Souderton was crushing Bensalem, 44-13. Souderton has been the more productive offense team and will be tough on its home field in its drive to a playoff berth. To pull off an upset the Hawks will need their best effort of the season. Council Rock North (1-6) at Bensalem (3-4), Thursday, 7 p.m.: The Owls also have faint playoff hopes, although they will definitely be the underdog next week against an Upper Dublin team that has won four in a row. It’s very unlikely Rock North can match Bensalem’s offensive fire power. Truman (1-6) at Quakertown (3-4), Thursday, 7 p.m.: After coming up on the short end of a 37-34 score against Upper Dublin last week, Quakertown must run the table to make the playoffs. It’s possible with games against Upper Dublin and Pennridge in the last two weeks. Truman has scored only three touchdowns in the last six weeks. Renaissance Academy (0-7) at Bristol (4-1), Friday, 7 p.m.: You don’t need to know a thing about football to figure out what’s going to happen here. The Warriors bounced back from their first loss by crushing Lower Moreland, 40-8. Lower Moreland had previously beaten Morrisville, so that’s something for Morrisville and Bristol to consider with the first of their two meetings now two weeks away. Renaissance has been shut out in six of its seven games. Jenkintown (4-2) at Morrisville (6-1), Friday, 7 p.m.: This could be a close game and a preview of the District 1 Class A final. Jenkintown has won three in a row. It’s Homecoming Day at Morrisville, which prevailed over KIPP Dubois, 28-12, behind a defense that scored two TD’s. Jenkintown and Mo’ville have had similar results against three common opponents. St. John Neumann (2-4) at Conwell-Egan (3-3), Friday, 5 p.m.: This looks like a close one as well. Conwell-Egan has been on a lose-one-win-one pattern all year and is looking to win two in a row for the first time. Go with the home team by a touchdown. Disrict 1 Class 6A 1. Central Bucks South (7-0) 1,200; 2. Downingtown West (7-0) 1,600; 3. North Penn (6-1) 1,130; 4. Perkiomen Valley (5-2) 1,000; 5. Central Bucks West (5-2), Haverford (6-1) 990 each; 7. Owen J. Roberts (6-1) 980; 8. Neshaminy (5-2) 920; 9. Ridley (5-2) 860; 10. Plymouth-Whitemarsh (5-2) 820; 11. Pennridge (4-3) 810; 12. Souderton (4-3) 780; 13. Downingtown East (4-3) ; Coatesville (5-2) 770 each; 15. Spring-Ford (3-4) 720; 16. Pennsbury 710; 19. Council Rock South (3-4) 640; 22. Bensalem (3-4) 590; 27. Council Rock North (1-6) 390; 29. Truman (1-6) 320.
