KU lecturer put on leave after violent remark, what the university's code of ethics say

TOPEKA (KSNT) - An instructor at the University of Kansas is on administrative leave after a video showing a clip of one of his lectures went viral on social media.
According to a KU spokeswoman, Phillip Lowcock is a lecturer in the Department of Health, Sport and Exercise Science Department. On Tuesday, Oct. 9, a video of Lowcock made some remarks about some men who won't vote for women because they don't think women are smart enough to be President. KSNT 27 News asked a professor from another university what should and should not be said in the college classroom.

Washburn University Professor Bob Beatty said what needs to be considered is the subject, context, and intent.
"Is this something that's going to be very helpful to promoting the discussion in that class, in that subject? Anything that gets in the way of students' learning is not productive," Beatty said.
The university released a statement on social media, that said Lowcock is on administrative leave while they investigate, and that he "offers his sincerest apologies and deeply regrets the situation."
