Hurricane Milton to make landfall Thursday evening As forecast, Hurricane Milton has weakened slightly as it inches closer to Florida's west coast. For most of the day, the storm stayed at a category 4 storm but weakened to a category 3 with its latest update early Wednesday evening. This comes on the heels of Milton's outer bands spawning several tornadoes throughout the Sunshine State. Tornadoes were confirmed even on Florida's Atlantic coast in the afternoon. At least ten twisters have occurred in Milton's outer bands. Hurricane-force winds are already being felt. Landfall will occur anywhere between 9-11 p.m. on Florida's Gulf coast likely just south of Tampa and closer to Sarasota/Bradenton. If Tampa were to get a direct hit from Milton, it would be the first time the city would get a direct hit from a major hurricane in more than 100 years. 7 PM Wind Probabilities 7 AM Wind Probabilities In terms of storm surge, levels will increase and be at peak from Fort Myers north to Port Charlotte. Central Indiana remains quiet, changes not far away While Hurricane Milton aims at Florida, high pressure around the Midwest is keeping us quiet and will continue doing so for days. In fact, Wednesday marked the fourth consecutive day with 100% sunshine reported at the Indianapolis International Airport. More warmth is on tap for the next few days. Highs in the upper 70s to near 80° remain the story through the first half of the weekend. Then, a cold front will pass through Sunday and give us a dramatic drop in temperatures and some very small rain chances. It would be late Saturday night and early Sunday. Next week, it will be coolest weather Central Indiana has seen in months, each day coming with a spotty shower chance. Highs in the 50s and more widespread lows in the 30s.
