KIMBERLY, Wis (WFRV) - There was a float in the Kimberly High School homecoming parade that was 70 years in the making. That's because about a dozen members of the Kimberly High School class of 1954 were on that float. "The people that we hung around with to this day are some of the nicest people you ever want to meet," said Louis Thein who was the homecoming king for that class. It was here that they had the idea to reach out to officials at their old high school to see if they could be part of the homecoming parade. "You don't want to leave Kimberly when you get to know all of us, we'll keep you here," said Thein about his graduating class. Their float was right behind the marching band towards the front of the parade. The '54 alumni threw out candy, waved at the people in the crowd, and sang along when the band played the school fight song. "So happy that we made a lot of other people happy. It's important to me and our whole breakfast group." The members of the class of 1954 said the school was much smaller back then and that they only had about sixty people in their graduating class.  "And we just liked it each other, got along well with each other, and just stayed friends," said Mauthe.
