HOWARD, Wis. (WFRV) — Howard Fire Rescue conducted a free "Stop the Bleed" training session today.
Bleeding is the leading cause of preventable death following an injury, which is why this program focuses on teaching individuals the swift actions needed to control bleeding. These actions include calling 911, applying pressure with your hands, packing the wound and pressing down, and using a tourniquet.

“Mass bleeding can occur anytime. One person had an injury at work, while another was injured at a recreational area playing pickleball. These incidents can happen anywhere, at any time, so recognizing bleeding and knowing how to stop it is important,” Greg Nelezen of Howard Fire Rescue said.
Over 4 million Americans have been trained in bleeding control, with a goal of training 200 million.
