MILWAUKEE (WFRV) — While Wisconsin sports fans are still recovering from the Brewers' heartbreaking loss in Game 3 of the NL Wild Card series to the New York Mets, one Milwaukee brewery is poking fun at former Brewers outfielder Jesse Winker. Winker, who played 61 games with the Brewers in 2023, struggled offensively, batting just .199. He signed with the Washington Nationals in the offseason before being traded to the Mets. Another 131 people cited for underage drinking in popular Wisconsin party city During the Wild Card series, Winker was mildly booed before his first at-bat, which resulted in a two-RBI triple. He shouted in celebration, followed by an exchange with Brewers shortstop Willy Adames. Brewers fans were not pleased. For the rest of the series, the boos grew louder and more intense. In Game 3, Winker scored the Mets' fourth and final run, spiking his helmet on home plate and having the last laugh against Brewers fans. Fast forward to the Mets' NL Division Series matchup against the Philadelphia Phillies, and Winker took another shot at Milwaukee during an interview. “As far as Milwaukee goes, I’ll hate them forever,” Winker said. “It’s part of sports; fans can react however they want. They pay for tickets. They’re the veins and the lifeblood of our sport... but I’ll hate the city of Milwaukee forever.” Winker hit a solo home run in Game 3 of the Division Series, which prompted a response from a popular Milwaukee brewery. Broken Bat Brewing Co. posted on X, formerly Twitter, that if the post got 100 likes, they would offer $1.99 pints in honor of Winker's batting average with the Brewers. “Feeling is mutual, pal,” the post read. 61-year-old cyclist killed in hit-and-run by unlicensed driver in central Wisconsin Within an hour and a half, the post had a little more than 100 likes. At 1,700 likes, the brewery announced it would follow through on its promise. “All right, folks, see you at the taproom tomorrow for $1.99 pints!” the brewery concluded.
