FAIRFIELD, Wis. (WFRV) - A 61-year-old woman died Tuesday evening after being struck by an unlicensed driver in central Wisconsin, authorities said.
According to the Sauk County Sheriff's Office, deputies were dispatched shortly before 5:15 p.m. on Oct. 8 to a hit-and-run crash involving an SUV and a bicyclist on Levee Road near North Hein Road in the township of Fairfield.

Preliminary reports indicate that the bicyclist, identified as Christin M. Harding, 61, of Baraboo, was thrown into a ditch after being hit. The SUV continued east on Levee Road toward the Columbia County line. A second bicyclist called emergency services and began CPR.
Deputies found the crash site on the south side of Levee Road, and paramedics attempted life-saving measures, but Harding was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities identified the suspect vehicle as a maroon 2003 Honda Pilot using witness descriptions and department resources. With assistance from the Columbia County Sheriff's Office, the vehicle and driver, identified as Taurean M. Johnson-Puttnam, 31, were located around 6:45 p.m. on Tritz Road in Columbia County.
Johnson-Puttnam was arrested and booked into the Sauk County Jail on charges of hit and run involving death, homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle, operating without a valid license and causing death, operating without insurance, and failure to notify police of an accident.

As of the time of publication, Johnson-Puttnam had not been formally charged in the Wisconsin Circuit Court system.
The incident remains under investigation.
