UPLAND, Ind. (WANE) -- Taylor University announced Wednesday it had raised $300 million of its $500 million "Life to the Full" campaign. "We are thrilled with the outpouring of generosity we've seen from so many supporters," Taylor President Michael Lindsay told WANE 15. The money will help the school expand, keep students with tuition and launch revitalization projects in Upland. "People are excited to make an investment in Taylor, because Taylor made such a difference in their lives or the lives of their kids or family members," Lindsay explained. "We're excited. Thirty-two percent of the incoming class, which is our largest class in history, came from relatives of Taylor folks." Lindsay said much of the money has come from the efforts of people and groups in northeast Indiana, with Chuck Surack serving as campaign co-chair. "We've been so grateful to get extraordinary support out of Fort Wayne. Obviously, Chuck and Lisa Surack have been amazingly wonderful, generous benefactors. But we're grateful for the Don Wood Foundation, which has been very helpful to us, grateful for Steel Dynamics and their support, and a variety of other organizations that are committed to trying to help make Taylor a real contributor for northeast Indiana." A Taylor release noted that since the campaign launch in 2022, there have been 52 gifts of seven and eight figures, including a $10 million gift to name the Cornwall School of Business and Leadership, a $20 million gift for scholarships, and a $40 million gift for academic initiatives. At the same time, more than 85% of gifts have been under $1,000.
