A North Carolina National Guard crew was grounded after rotor washing donations from a site in western North Carolina.
It happened at Burnsville, a small town in Yancey County, when a UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter was attempting to deliver generators. While the helicopter was attempting to land, rotor wash caused items to blow away in the area.
“Safety is the NCNG’s number one priority, especially with the high volume of air operations currently happening across the region,” the NC National Guard said on X. “While the NCNG strives for precision in every mission, sometimes things don’t go as planned.”

The NCNG said it is working with the local civilian organization to determine the damage caused by the rotor wash.
“When that happens, the NCNG takes it very seriously and are committed to addressing and correcting any issues to prevent future occurrences,” the NCNG said.
The helicopter quickly aborted landing and left the area for safety reasons.
