Carson City Sheriff's Office On Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2024, Carson City Fire Department and Carson City Sheriff’s Office personnel were dispatched to the 1700 block of Roop Street regarding a structure fire. Throughout the course of the investigation, it was determined that the fire was started by the occupant of the residence. Carson City Fire Department arson investigators and Carson City Sheriff’s Office detectives responded to further investigate the arson. Detectives developed probable cause to arrest Ruben Ordaz, a Carson City resident for alleged first degree arson. An exhaustive search was conducted over the following several hours. At around 9 p.m., deputies arrested Ordaz and he was booked into the Carson City Jail on the following charges: -NRS 205. 010 First Degree Arson -NRS 205. 060.2A1 Burglary of a Motor Vehicle This is an on-going investigation and additional charges may follow. Ordaz is being held on $40,000 bond.
