A homeless man died after a horrific beatdown in a Brooklyn grocery store parking lot — and cops said Wednesday they are searching for two assailants. According to police, two men holding metal pipes and a baseball bat approached Cos Jervis Jonas Ajpuac, 38, and a 42-year-old man who were sleeping in the parking lot of a ShopRite between McDonald Ave. and Avenue I in Borough Park around 7 p.m. Sept. 18. The two assailants attacked the sleeping men, striking them in the head and body multiple times, police said. The injured men were transported to Maimonides Medical Center. Ajpuac, who suffered from internal bleeding, died Oct. 2. The 42-year-old man beaten in the attack was in stable condition with swelling to the legs and stomach, police said. The assailants were said to be known to frequent the area of the incident, cops said. Police have released surveillance video of the suspects walking inside the grocery store. The 25-year-old assailant had a bandage over his nose and a black sweatshirt that had “Vocal” written on it; the 49-year-old assailant was wearing a yellow shirt and orange vest, and had a walking cane. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS.
