SANTA FE, N.M. (KRQE) – There will be several events in Santa Fe this weekend in honor of Indigenous Peoples' Day on Monday, Oct. 14. Santa Fe woman organizes free skateboard giveaways for Navajo kids in New Mexico, Arizona On Saturday and Sunday, there will be dancers on the plaza, and on Monday, there will be a powwow hosted by the Santa Fe Indigenous Center. Schedule Saturday 10 a.m. Danza Azteca de Anahuac (Taos Area) 11 a.m. The Pueblo Enchantment Dancers (Acoma Pueblo) 1 p.m. Tesuque Pueblo Dancers 2 p.m. Poeh Cultural Center (Pojoaque Pueblo) 3 p.m. Talachy Sister Hoop Dancers (Pojoaque Pueblo) Sunday 10 a.m. Southern Nations Dance Troupe (Kiowa, Comanche, Pawnee and Navajo Nations) 11 a.m. The Pueblo Enchantment Dancers (Acoma Pueblo) 1 p.m. Soaring Eagle Dance Group (Zuni Pueblo) 2 p.m. Oak Canyon Dancers (Jemez Pueblo) 3 p.m. Lighting Boy Hoop Dancers (Pojoaque Pueblo) Monday Santa Fe Indigenous Center’s 2nd Annual Honoring Native Nations Powwow on theSanta Fe Plaza. There will be powwow dancing, vendor booths, and a parade of nations. 9 a.m. Official Opening, Prayer, Land Acknowledgment, and Pueblo Dances 9 a.m. Native Artist Booths Open 10 a.m. Gourd Dancing Noon Grand Entry & Parade of Nations 4:30 p.m. Closing There are 23 Indian tribes located in New Mexico: nineteen Pueblos, three Apache tribes, and the Navajo Nation.
