NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – Along with the slightly chillier air to start across the region, mostly clear skies with dry air remains for now despite drizzle in the Gila National Forest to the Northeast Highlands. Mostly light winds are still in place, as despite the slightly pesky easterly winds to start in Albuquerque, green flags will mostly likely be predominantly up at Balloon Fiesta for not only today, but for at least the next few days. Temperatures are ranging from the 20s to the low 60s across New Mexico, at-or-slightly below normal for some northern areas, while the remainder of the region is still experiencing above-normal temperatures. While stable air remains for much of the Land of Enchantment despite some mid-to-upper-level moisture, the tropical moisture is well to the southeast with very strong Hurricane Milton now threatening Florida as its set to make landfall as a major hurricane late today into early tomorrow. Elsewhere, despite the uptick in clouds, partly to mostly sunny skies will ensue and as temperatures will rise, southwesterly winds will pick up a little bit. From the morning school commute on into the afternoon, temperatures will eventually reach into the upper 60s, 70s, 80s, and in the low 90s, near record territory for some. Mostly clear skies with relatively chilly mornings and seasonably warm afternoons will continue this week as despite a storm system approaching late this week, most will still remain rain-free with mostly light winds up until late this week into early next week where conditions will start to feel more like fall at the cost to stronger winds.
