PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WPRI) — The Pawtucket Historic District voted 4-0 against delaying the demolition of McCoy Stadium on Tuesday. The city told 12 News any delay would cause the city to miss out on $35 million in reimbursements from the Rhode Island Department of Education to build a new school there. The stadium has been vacant since 2019 when the Pawtucket Red Sox moved to Polar Park and became the Worcester Red Sox.
