Jackson County Executive White calls out abatements for private development

The Jackson County executive, citing Good Jobs First's report from August, notes that abatements cost his county $72.9 million in forgone taxes from 2017-2022 — the most of any county in Missouri. "While cities may voluntarily give up tax revenue, other essential public institutions are not afforded that choice, and they are the ones left picking up the tab," he said.
