APPLETON, Wis. (WFRV) - The annual FOCUS program returned to the Fox Cities as the initiative continues to promote safe driving toward students. The educational program hosted by Thedacare is known for using skits in its efforts to empower students to make safer decisions while emphasizing the dangers of unsafe driving behaviors. Family and Childcare Resources of Northeast Wisconsin distributes free diapers to support local families "When you're in a vehicle, especially when you're impaired, I've always thought that vehicle is now a weapon," speaker Sheila Lockwood said. "You have a huge responsibility when you're on the road. You have one job, and that's to drive safely." 30 schools will attend the program this year from eight different counties in Wisconsin. The program has been serving students in the area for over two decades, and 2024 marks 99,500 students having gone through the program since 1998. Originally it was known as P.A.R.T.Y., before being renamed in 2020. For more information, visit the program's official announcement website.
