(WFRV) - Gregory J. Haanstad, the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Wisconsin announced on Tuesday that a grand jury returned an indictment, charging a Wisconsin man with allegedly filing false tax returns. According to the release, Vikram Naik is charged with three counts of filing false individual income tax returns. The indictment said that Naik intentionally made and subscribed under perjury penalties, individual income tax returns from 2017-2019. Wisconsin deputy shoots woman after razor blade attack; suspect in critical condition Naik had federal income tax withholding amounts much less than what he had reported, according to the release. As a result, his taxable income and total owed were far higher than he reported. A conviction for Naik could see him spend up to three years in prison per count, which would be up to nine years.
