OSHKOSH, Wis. (WFRV) - A resident of an Oshkosh apartment complex had to be pulled to safety during an early morning fire on Wednesday. According to the Oshkosh Fire Department, crews were sent to an apartment complex in the 1700 block of Taft Avenue around 7 a.m. on October 9 for reports of fire alarms sounding and black smoke showing. Fire Prevention Week highlights high fire danger in northeast Wisconsin When crews arrived, they were made aware of a person in one of the hallways who had been pulled from their apartment by a maintenance supervisor and a resident. The victim was then sent to a local hospital for treatment of non life threatening injuries. Authorities say the fire was contained to the unit where the fire originated and sustained heavy smoke and fire damage, and the unit directly above suffered minor damage. The cause of the fire is under investigation. No additional information was provided.
