(WFRV) - The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) already has a number of specialty license plates available for purchase and has now added a "Cranes of Wisconsin" specialty plate. According to a release from the International Crane Foundation, the "Crane of Wisconsin" specialty plate was designed by Wisconsin artist Jay Jocham and features two species of cranes native to Wisconsin, the Sandhill Crane and the Endangered Whooping Crane. Officials say each plate purchased and each subsequent annual registration will provide the International Crane Foundation with a tax-deductible $25 donation. We are very pleased that Whooping and Sandhill Cranes will now grace roadways all around the state and country. Not only does this new, beautiful license plate directly support our important work financially, but its high visibility will also ensure more people have the opportunity to learn about these beautiful birds and the habitats upon which they rely. Dr. Rich Beilfuss, President and CEO of the International Crane Foundation. The "Cranes of Wisconsin" specialty license plate is available to purchase through the WisDOT website as of October 9.
