Chagrin Falls at Kirtland football: Preview capsule for Oct. 10 game
Oct 09, 2024
Chagrin Falls at Kirtland
What: CVC Valley Division game
When: 7 p.m., Oct. 10
Where: Wilson Stadium
Records: Chagrin Falls 5-2 (2-0 CVC), Kirtland 7-0 (2-0 CVC)
Last week: Kirtland def. Berkshire, 46-11, Chagrin Falls def. Fairview, 39-22
For the record: The Hornets dominated Berkshire last week without QB Jake LaVerde (broken arm). The running of Danny Alfieri (87 yards, three TDs) and passing of Max Paul (138 yards, one TD), as well as a defense that kept giving the ball to the Hornets in Berkshire territory, did the trick. Chagrin, which hasn’t qualified for the playoffs in a non-COVID year since 2013, can’t give Kirtland short fields like Berkshire did last week. Jacob Kay has thrown for 957 yards and run for a team-high 462 yards. Jack Gellin has also run for 428 yards for Chagrin. For the Tigers to have any sort of a chance, they need to find a way to move the ball on Kirtland’s tough defense and also slow down the Hornets’ vaunted running attack.
