Good morning! Some early showers and a t'storm today then we'll have very quiet weather locally, but we continue to track Hurricane Milton which will impact Florida later today and Thursday. Milton is a power Category 5 storm this morning with winds of 160mph. We're still expecing a landfall on the west-central coast of Florida. More on Milton below. Winds from the northwest to west 5-10mph. | | BEACH AND BOATING FORECASTS TONIGHT We'll have a blend of stars and a few patchy clouds tonight. It'll be quite chilly late in the night with lows in the upper 30s to lower 40s. TOMORROW After the chilly sunrise, temperatures will rise to only 60 Thursday afternoon. We'll continue to be dry. LOOKING AHEAD It'll be cold Friday morning with temperatures in the 30s....afternoon highs will be a little milder in the mid 60s. TROPICS Hurricane Milton remains an extremely dangerous Category 5 storm in the Gulf of Mexico. It's a fairly compact storm, but as it moves northeast, it'll grow in size but weaken a bit in intensity. At landfall, the storm could still be an extremely dangerous Category 4 storm with winds of 130mph. The wind field associated with Milton will expand. The 140mph winds will be limited to right around the center, but tropical storm force winds will cover much of the state of Florida tonight into Thursday morning. As the storm approaches, the storm surge will grow...even in Tampa Bay despite the storm passing to the south of area. A 10-15foot surge is expected in Tampa Bay. A storm surge is the result of the strong hurricane winds pushing water inland. -Meteorologist T.J. Del Santo T.J.
