SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Gas stations are being hit hard in Florida ahead of Hurricane Milton but how will this impact energy prices in the Northeast? 22News spoke with Tim Noonan of Noonan Energy in Springfield. He told us that as of right now, the hurricane should not cause too much of a change in energy prices--because there are no oil refineries in the Florida area. He says while there was a slight increase recently…that's because of conflict happening overseas, "Oil prices have continued to go down since February until this week. We went up 10 cents for the first time since February. There's so many factors and variables that can cause that. But they have been really stable for the last 7 or 8 months." According to GasBuddy, more than 1,000 gas stations have run out of fuel in Florida as people evacuate.
