COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO) — One of the closest races last Election Day was right here in Columbia. South Carolina House District 75 includes much of the eastern part of Soda City as well as part of Forest Acres. Republican Kirkman Finlay the third served District 75 from 2013 to 2022. He believes that making Columbia a more attractive place to live includes improving education and reducing crime. Finlay says that he wants school choice for parents in the district, something that Democrat Heather Bauer has voted against. During the past two legislative sessions, Bauer says she has voted against an abortion ban and for a bipartisan bill on international trade. The representative believes she is the better candidate on the ballot in November, which is why she says she chose to run for office in the first place. If elected back to his old seat, Finlay says the district can do better when it comes to infrastructure and mental health. Learn more about Heather’s platform as well as Kirkman’s stance on issues.   Categories: Local News, News, Politics, Richland
