For the second consecutive year, U.S. News and World Report has named Rady Children’s Hospital to its annual honor roll, designating the San Diego facility among the 10 best of its kind nationwide. The list is part of the online publication’s 2024-2025 Best Children’s Hospitals ranking, which rates 108 medical centers nationwide across 11 pediatric specialties from cancer to urology. Hospitals are graded on the breadth of services they offer, their commitment to clinical research and the outcomes their patients achieve, including infection prevention and survival after surgery. Hospitals that earned honor roll spots scored first, or tied for first, in their state or region. Rady ranked third nationwide in cardiology and heart surgery; fifth in orthopedics; eighth in neurology and neurosurgery; ninth in diabetes and endocrinology; 10th in urology; 14th in cancer care; 15th in nephrology; 16th in neonatology; 18th in pulmonology and lung surgery and 37th and gastroenterology and G.I. surgery. U.S. News also assessed hospitals’ pediatric and adolescent behavioral health for the first time this year. Formal rankings were not released; however, Rady was listed as providing services that were “top 50 in the nation.” Other children’s hospitals that made the honor roll include Boston Children’s Hospital; Children’s Hospital Colorado, Aurora; Children’s Hospital Los Angeles; Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia; Children’s National Hospital, Washington, D.C.; Cincinnati Children’s; Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Columbus, Ohio; Seattle Children’s Hospital; and Texas Children’s Hospital, Houston. U.S. News no longer ranks its honor roll members, listing them alphabetically.
