MADERA, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - Over a thousand kids in Madera will actively immerse themselves in California Ag. According to Madera Unified School District (MUSD), Madera Future Farmers of America (FFA) will engage with TK and kindergarten students, showing them the ropes of California Agriculture. MUSD says an estimated 1,600 students will attend Ag Literacy Days which will occur over the course of three days, Oct. 9 to Oct. 11. The educational event is intended to cultivate an appreciation for agriculture. Officials say Madera FFA members will work with the kids on hands-on activities and interactive lessons, such as a petting zoo, planting pumpkin seeds, and creating a picture book showing an orange's farm-to-table journey. And after the three-day event, MUSD says all the kids will bring home a free pumpkin grown by the Madera FFA team.
