Neighbor prevents attic fire from spreading in Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - The Fresno Fire Department says a concerned neighbor's call may have been the only thing preventing an attic fire from spreading and causing further damage.
Officials say just after 1 p.m. on Tuesday, crews responded to East Harvard Avenue after a neighbor noticed smoke coming from the home next door.
When firefighters arrived they found a fire burning in the attic space above the kitchen. Firefighters say they were able to quickly extinguish the fire, and limit its damage.
No one was injured during this incident, but five people have been temporarily displaced. An electrical problem was identified as the cause of the fire, according to the Fire Department.
Firefighters say fires can be unpredictable and this neighbor is lucky that they live next door to an observant and proactive person.
