TOPEKA (KSNT) - Shawnee County Parks and Recreation (SCP+R) will host many Halloween-themed events this month leading up to Oct. 31. Sean Zears with the SCP+R issued a press release on Monday, Oct. 7 for several upcoming events to get locals in the mood for the spookiest season of the year. A full list of the events can be found below: Lantern stories will allow attendees to explore the history of the park and listen to spooky stories. 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Oct. 18 at Gage Park. The admission fee is $20. Register here Go on a ghost hunt with local guide Cathy Ramirez. 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Oct. 19 at Shawnee North Community Park. The admission fee is $22. Register here. The Spookomotive is the perfect family friendly event that showcases Halloween decorations and a slightly spooky train ride. 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Oct. 19 & 26 at Gage Park train station. The admission fee is $2. Old Prairie Town lantern tour. 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 25. Old Prairie Town/Ward-Meade Park at the Mulvane General store. The admission fee is $20. Register here. The Garfield ghost walk will explore the lost history of Soldier Creek and North Topeka. 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 26 The admission fee is $20. Preregistration is required. Register here.
