Woman severely injured in Ludlow cartruck collision

LUDLOW, Mass. (WWLP) - A portion of East Street in Ludlow is closed on Tuesday after a serious motor vehicle crash.

According to the Ludlow Police Department, the crash occurred at approximately 9:20 a.m. in the 1200 block of East Street. Multiple 911 calls were received, reporting the collision and substantial injuries to one of the drivers.
The driver of the passenger car was trapped inside her vehicle, requiring Ludlow Fire Department firefighters to extricate her using mechanical tools. She was brought to Baystate Medical Center for intensive care due to the severity of her injuries.
While investigators worked at the scene, East Street was closed between Poole Street and Ventura Street. The roadway was reopened around noon. The crash remains under investigation, and no further details about the cause of the accident have been released at this time.
