NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A Slidell woman accused of tax and COVID fraud has been convicted. According to the Office of U.S. Attorney Duane Evans, 35-year-old Celina Bolton-Fultz, a New Orleans tax preparer, pled guilty to 30 counts of assisting in filing false tax returns, five counts of filing false tax returns for herself, four counts of making false statements and two counts of theft of government funds on Thursday, Oct. 3. New Orleans man convicted of killing two people in ‘Burgundy Massacre’ sentenced Court documents state that from 2018 through 2022, Bolton-Fultz filed 30 false tax returns for seven clients by "adding fake 'household help' income" to their tax returns to inflate tax credits returned. Evans said Bolton-Fultz also falsely reported business expenses and reduced receipts to reduce her income on tax returns. Additionally, the district attorney's office reported that Bolton-Fultz filed fraudulent applications for Paycheck Protection Program loans and Economic Injury Disaster Loans (EDIL). Court documents state she falsely reported payroll and tax information when applying for the loans. Homicide investigation underway after teen fatally shot in New Orleans East Evans said Bolton-Fultz received "$204,103 in funds through the fraudulent PPP and EIDL applications." Bolton-Fultz faces up to three years in prison for each tax-related charge, five years in prison to each count related to PPP fraud and 10 years for EDIL fraud charges. She also agreed to pay at least $405,133 to the IRS and SBA.
