According to Lancaster County Chief Deputy Ben Houchin, just after noon on Tuesday, the Lancaster County Sheriffs office responded to The U-Save Pharmacy in Waverly on a domestic disturbance call. When law enforcement arrived, a Toyota truck was seen leaving the area, driven by 34-year-old Trenton Engel of Lincoln, who was involved in a weapons violation earlier Tuesday morning. The truck fled and was hit by stop sticks but it continued until a pit maneuver was initiated. Minutes later the vehicle got pinned at Highway 6 and Amberly Road, but continued to ram the police cruisers surrounding it.  Law enforcement contacted the vehicle and Engel was brought into custody after taser deployment. Chief Deputy Houchin said one shot was fired during the pursuit but it didn’t cause injuries. Engel is in an area hospital with non life threatening injuries. No members of law enforcement were hurt. The investigation is ongoing.
