UPDATE: Woman dead after pedestrian crash in Northeast El Paso

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) - A 67-year-old woman is dead following a pedestrian crash that happened Monday evening, Oct. 7 in Northeast El Paso, according to the El Paso Police Department (EPPD).
Pedestrian struck by vehicle, killed in Northeast El Paso
EPPD said at approximately 7:24 p.m., officers were called out to the intersection of McCombs Street and Regulus Road for a crash involving a pedestrian.
When officers arrived, they located a pedestrian who had died at the scene. The pedestrian was later identified as Lori Jean Kenyan, 67, according to EPPD.
The Special Traffic Investigations (STI) unit was called in to take over the investigation.
EPPD said the preliminary investigation revealed that a vehicle was traveling northbound on McCombs Street when Kenyan crossed the street from west to east entering the path of the vehicle.
Kenyan, who was not in a designated crosswalk, was struck by the vehicle and died at the scene, according to EPPD.
EPPD said the driver of the vehicle involved was not injured.
Investigators believe Kenyan crossing in a non-designated area and poor lighting may have contributed to the crash, according to EPPD.
EPPD said this is the 51st traffic fatality this year compared to 56 in 2023.
