(PUEBLO COUNTY, Colo.) — A Pueblo man has been arrested on attempted murder charges after he allegedly assaulted a woman in her home while she slept on Sunday morning, Oct. 6. According to the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office (PCSO), deputies responded around 5:40 a.m. on Sunday to a reported assault at a home in the 600 block of Clarion Drive, south of Highway 50 in Pueblo West. When deputies arrived, they found a woman injured from an assault. The woman reported that she had been sleeping when she woke up to find a man who she knew, identified as 33-year-old Jordan Cartmell, assaulting her. The woman said she was able to break free from Cartmell and was trying to run away when Cartmell hit her in the face. The woman was able to escape and run to a neighbor's house for help. She was taken to the hospital to be treated for serious but non-life threatening injuries. PCSO said deputies searched the home and found Cartmell lying on a bed in the house with a self-inflicted wound. Courtesy: Pueblo County Sheriff's Office Cartmell was taken into custody and taken to the hospital for treatment of his injury before later being booked into the Pueblo County Jail. He was booked on charges of Attempted Second Degree Murder, Second Degree Assault, and Domestic Violence. Cartmell remains in jail on a $175,000 bond.
