METAIRIE, La. (BRPROUD) -- The New Orleans Saints may be without their quarterback for multiple weeks. After suffering an oblique injury in the fourth quarter in Monday's loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, quarterback Derek Carr is expected to miss multiple games, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport. The news comes as the Saints prepare to play two games in nine days, first hosting divisional foe Tampa Bay on Sunday. Carr said the injury came on the throw, not the hit, on a fourth-down pass intended for receiver Mason Tipton. When asked how he felt after the game regarding his injury, Carr said: "not good." Carr also said in postgame he would have an MRI on Tuesday. He has yet to miss a game since joining the Saints in 2023. Carr's first five games this season have been a rollercoaster of success. He's gone 90/128 for 989 yards, eight touchdowns and four interceptions through five weeks. The Saints will likely turn to Jake Haener to take over for Carr. Haener, a second-year quarterback out of Fresno State, replaced Carr against the Chiefs. He went 2/7 for 17 yards while rushing for 11 yards. Rookie quarterback Spencer Rattler is also an option after he and Haener battled for the backup job throughout training camp. Rattler's been the emergency third quarterback for the Saints this season.
