AUSTIN (KXAN) — Central Texas has had very few dips below the 90s in the last few months, and very rarely have those dips lasted for more than a day or two. Well, here's your First Warning about the potential for highs to finally drop out of the 90s more consistently around next Tuesday, Oct. 15. First Warning: Consistently in the 80s starting next week It may take our eastern counties an extra day to drop with us, but cooler air is now less than a week away! Highs should stay in the 90s until then with near-record highs possible at times. Average highs this time of year are closer to 85º, so our highs for the next several days will be almost 10 degrees above normal! Signs of a cool-down A cold front early next week should bring a bigger push of cooler air into Central Texas. We're seeing significant computer model agreement that highs should drop out of the 90s around next Tuesday. We aren't saying we won't get 90s at all the rest of the year, but we do believe highs will start to be more consistently in the 80s beginning early-mid week next week. Expected highs in Austin for the next week The Climate Prediction Center's 6-10 day outlook is in agreement that "Near Normal" temperatures are in store for next week.
