Aaron Boone has enough to worry about heading into Game 3 of the ALDS. He does not believe Jazz Chisholm Jr.’s comments about the Royals getting “lucky” in their Game 2, series-tying win are among his concerns, though. “Not really,” Boone said via Zoom on Tuesday when asked if the Yankees’ third baseman may have provided Kansas City with some bulletin board material the night before. On Monday, Chisholm repeatedly said that the Yankees had “unlucky plays” go against them in their 4-2 loss. He cited some hard-hit balls, diving stops and “great catches” from the Royals’ defense. But when asked if the series felt different after Game 2 compared to after the Yankees’ Game 1 victory, Chisholm said, “It still feels the same, that we’re going to win it. I don’t feel like anybody feels different. We’re going to go out there and do our things. We still don’t feel like any team is better than us. Like you said, we had a lot of missed opportunities tonight. So they just got lucky.” Boone said that he disagreed with Chisholm’s assessment, insisting that the Royals “played two really good games against us and earned themselves a victory last night.” “I don’t think they got lucky,” the skipper added. However, Boone also downplayed Chisholm’s comments. “I also looked at the line of questioning as it went,” said Boone, whose Yankees are 3-for-19 with runners in scoring position this October. “I think what he was referring to more was probably we did hit into some tough luck and there were some hard-hit balls. That line of questioning continued to where Jazz can be colorful sometimes. In his head, because of the confidence he has in himself and our group, they got lucky. But I don’t think that was the case.” Following Boone’s comments, Chisholm appeared to double down with a tweet. “If you don’t believe you gonna win it you won’t!” he wrote. “So you better speak this shii into existence and believe!” “Alright I’m done trolling!!” Chisholm added in another post. “See y’all tomorrow.” Chisholm also retweeted a post sharing stats highlighting the Royals’ good fortune on Monday. ——— ALERT ———Royals are luck merchants!Royals at Yankees (10/07/2024)Actual score: Royals 4, Yankees 2Deserve-to-win: Royals 20%, Yankees 72%, Tie 8%#MLB #Statcast #MLBSimRoyals #MLBSimYankees #Baseball #Royals #Yankees pic.twitter.com/1s68bnmqb1 — MLB Deserve-To-Win-O-Meter (@mlb_simulator) October 8, 2024 Chisholm wasn’t alone in talking some trash on social media following Monday’s game, as Kansas City’s Maikel Garcia poked fun at Carlos Rodón’s animated celebrations after a few first-inning strikeouts. Rodón ultimately unraveled in the fourth inning and was charged with four earned runs. “Don’t celebrate too early,” Garcia wrote in a quote-tweet of a video highlighting Rodón’s emotional reactions. The third baseman, who went 4-for-5 with one RBI, added a skull emoji.
