We reflect back on the first five weeks of the season for the Detroit Lions and the rest of the NFC. The Detroit Lions are officially out of their bye week, but before we move ahead to the Dallas Cowboys, we wanted to take one last look at the first month of the season. Detroit is 3-1, the second-best record in the division and only behind the Commanders (4-1) and Vikings (5-0) in the entire NFC.
So on the latest PODcast, myself, Ryan Mathews, and Ty Schalter handed out some awards and superlatives for the Lions season thus far, and also took a look around the league to find the biggest competitors and biggest phonies across the league.
Here’s a guide to our conversation on this week’s podcast:
Segment 1
Biggest positive surprise from the Lions
Biggest negative surprise from the Lions
Lions’ most improved player
Lions’ most memorable play
Most impactful Lions injury
Biggest source of optimism

Segment 2

Who is the biggest threat in the entire NFC?
Who is the biggest phony in the entire NFL?
Which team under .500 is the most likely to turn it around?
Who has been the NFL MVP through five weeks?
