Man arrested after shooting at Worldgate Centre near Dulles International Airport

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) -- Officers have arrested a 25-year-old man who was wanted for shooting another man at the Worldgate Centre in Herndon on Sunday night, according to the Herndon Police Department.
Police said that around 7:40 p.m. on Oct. 6, a patrol officer was on duty in the area of Worldgate Drive and Elden Street when he heard what he believed to be gunshots coming from the Worldgate Centre.
As he approached the shopping center, he saw a car quickly leaving the area. A pursuit ensued on Dulles Toll Road, but the officer eventually lost sight of the vehicle, ending the chase.

Meanwhile, a 911 call came in about a man with multiple gunshot wounds in the shopping center's parking lot. Officers arrived on the scene and treated the man until medics arrived.
Responders took him to the hospital, where, according to police, he is in stable condition after having surgery.
Shortly after the shooting, a witness returned to the scene. She identified the suspect as 25-year-old Mohamed Abdalla. Police said the witness was in the car that fled the scene, along with a minor, but they were able to escape.
Later that Sunday night, authorities recovered the vehicle in Reston.

Herndon officers, detectives and the Fairfax County Police Department's (FCPD) Fugitive Task Force worked throughout Monday to track Abdalla throughout Herndon.
Just before 10 p.m., FCPD's SWAT unit located and arrested Abdalla.
Authorities charged him with four felonies, including malicious wounding, use of a firearm in commission of a felony and two counts of abduction.
Police determined that Abdalla and the man he allegedly shot knew each other.
The investigation is ongoing.
