Colder air has finally arrived across the DMV, with chilly temperatures from the upper 30s to lower 50s greeting us this morning. Sunny skies and calmer winds have warmed us up, but it will still be cooler than yesterday. High temperatures will only reach the upper 60s around DC, with lower readings to the west. Since we won't have breezy winds, this should still feel comfortable, especially if you're in direct sunlight. Clear and calm conditions will continue into the night, with high pressure sticking around, giving us another round of brisk conditions. Expect low temperatures similar to last night, with the coldest readings in the upper 30s in the valleys west of I-81. The rest of the week will feature the same conditions, with only minor daily adjustments as the pattern changes. A more westerly wind on Wednesday will allow for slightly warmer afternoon temperatures, reaching the low to mid-70s. Another cold front will push down from Canada Wednesday night, providing the second surge of chillier air this week. It will remain clear and dry, but temperatures will tumble on Thursday and Friday. Highs each day will be in the mid-60s, with lows getting even colder. Those around the metros will see lower 40s, with 30s much more likely into the higher terrain. Thursday night poses the highest threat for a widespread frost west of I-81, the first of the season. While we stay quiet and chilly down to the south, Hurricane Milton will continue on its collision course with Florida. While its strength will fluctuate before making landfall late Wednesday night around the Tampa Bay area, it will still bring life-threatening storm surge, rainfall, and winds once it does hit land. It still poses no threat to the DMV, as the front bringing in our next surge of colder air on Thursday and Friday will steer it out into the Atlantic. Back closer to home, as we head into the upcoming weekend, high pressure shifting to our south will give us warmer temperatures in the upper 70s on Saturday. A weak system will clip by from the north Sunday into Monday, bringing our first chance in days for a few showers. Another burst of colder air will arrive behind this brief rainfall. Have a great rest of your Tuesday! 7-Day Forecast: Today: Mostly sunny skies. Winds: WNW 5-10 mph, High: 69 (61-72) Tonight: Mostly clear skies. Patchy frost will be possible west of I-81.
