WINDSOR LOCKS, CT. (WWLP) - Tampa, St. Petersburg, and other cities in the path of the storm are under evacuation orders. Milton dips to Category 4 as Florida braces for impact As Hurricane Milton gets closer to making landfall, residents and businesses are getting ready, and that includes the airports. Tampa International Airport grounded all planes at 9:00 a.m. and shut down with no current set date for reopening. St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport is closing later Tuesday evening and announced they will be closed until at least Thursday. Orlando is still accepting arrivals and sending out departures, but they have announced they are closing on Wednesday at 8:00 a.m. One of the last flights before the storm from Orlando just arrived hours ago at Bradley International Airport. A passenger 22News spoke to lives in Tampa Bay, right where the storm is expected to make landfall. "From the time that I had decided that I wanted to get a flight out of TPA, there were several options available, they were like $200-$400 and I logged into my account to buy one and they were all gone, every single one of them. It was like 30 seconds and they just disappeared and the ones left were like $800 and over $1,000," said Erika Belezarian of Tampa Bay. Other passengers 22News spoke to had to leave their Disney vacation a day early, find a flight that could get them as close to home as possible, and then rent a car and drive the rest of the way. Bradley International Airport also mentioned they are starting to see more cancellations.
