ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Each year, it's estimated that millions of photos are snapped at the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta. If you are a shutterbug or a digital or AI art creator, you can enter your content into the event's official photo contest for a chance to win a cash prize or merchandise. PHOTOS: Chillier air makes for fantastic Day 4 of Balloon Fiesta The contest has six categories: Faces of Fiesta Dawn Patrol/Balloon Glow Mass Ascension Special Shapes AfterGlow Fireworks Digital or Artificial Intelligence (AI) Art In order to enter, photos must be taken Oct. 5th-13, 2024, and be owned by the entrant. The prizes are as follows: Grand Prize winner will receive $1,000 First place winners from each category will each receive $500 Second place winners from each category will receive a 2024 Balloon Fiesta Jacket Third place winners from each category will receive an Official Event Poster from the 2024 Balloon Fiesta Digital/Artificial Intelligence (AI) Art winner will receive $300 It costs $10 to enter the contest, and there is no limit on the number of entries a person can submit. The Cindy Petrehn Memorial Photo Contest is named in honor of Petrehn, a former balloon pilot and official Balloon Fiesta photographer who died unexpectedly in 2013. Photo submissions for the 2024 contest will be accepted through Oct. 31, and winners will be announced in November.
