CENTRAL FALLS, R.I. (WPRI) — Work is officially halfway done for a new high school in Central Falls. After the city broke ground on the new high school in April, Mayor Maria Rivera will join state and district officials Tuesday afternoon to celebrate a "topping out" ceremony. The final steel beam will be placed on the new building at 2:30 p.m. It will replace the current, nearly 100-year-old school building, in a new location across the city at the corner of Lonsdale and Higginson avenues. Leaders say it will transform the future of education in the city. The city secured more than $93 million in a bond from the Rhode Island Health and Educational Building Corporation. The entire project will cost $108 million total. It's set to be completed by 2026.
