Larry Hogan (R), Maryland’s former governor turned Senate candidate, released a campaign ad Tuesday targeting his opponent, Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks, and her record on crime. “Alsobrooks wanted to remove security from our schools and cut police funding. She released violent criminals and drug dealers. Murders have doubled. Carjackings are up 500 percent,” a county police officer shared in the video posted on X.  She added that Alsobrooks wanted to abolish cash bail and let “violent criminals” go free. “Larry Hogan, he has our backs. And that's why Maryland police unanimously endorsed him,” said the woman featured, referencing Hogan’s endorsement from the Maryland Fraternal Order of Police. Hogan has also been endorsed by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, two local chapters of the  International Longshoremen’s Association and the National Association of Home Builders. He’s also been endorsed by former President Trump, who he has refused to return the favor for in an effort to distance himself from the far-right.  However, the Prince George’s County executive maintains a 9.4 percent lead in the state according to statistics from The Hill’s internal polling site, Decision Desk HQ.  Alsobrooks and Hogan are set to face off Thursday in a live debate broadcast by WBAL and moderated by former Meet the Press host Chuck Todd.
