CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Want to learn more about fungi? Rangers at Pocahontas State Park will lead a hike where attendees can learn how to identify mushrooms. From 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12, beginning at the park's Visitor Center, the group will hike Ground Pine Path and parts of Beaver Lake Trail while searching for mushrooms to identify. According to organizers, trails are hard-packed earth with slight elevation changes and exposed roots, so attendees are asked to dress for the weather and wear sturdy shoes. The event is free to attend, though the visitors must pay the admission fee when entering the park.
