Good Tuesday morning Once again the potential to see the Northern Lights overnight and into the pre-dawn hours once skies clear. A dry and cool stretch of weather ahead for most of this week with cool afternoons and chilly late nights.. We're also tracking a very powerful Hurricane Milton in the Gulf of Mexico. Cool and dry. Highs in the mid 60s. LOOKING AHEAD Trending much cooler Wednesday and Thursday TROPICS: VERY POWERFUL HURRICANE MILTON We continue to monitor Hurricane Milton in the Gulf of Mexico. Milton is currently north of the Yucatan Peninsula and rapidly strengthening. The storm has intensified into a Category 5 storm with winds of 165 mph Milton is expected to curve northeastward toward the west coast of Florida, possibly making landfall near Tampa Bay later Wednesday. It's impacts will be far beyond where the center makes landfall, however with hurricane force winds crossing over to Florida's east coast by early Thursday morning TUESDAY 9:00PM WEDNESDAY 7:00PM THURSDAY 7:00AM The core of the winds could be between up to140-160 mph as it makes landfall Wednesday night The life-threatening storm surge between 10-15 feet along a big portion of western Florida from Palm Harbor to Venice. A storm surge is the result of the hurricane winds pushing massive amounts of water onto the coast. .
