ROCHESTER, NY (WROC) - With late Sunday's cold front now in the rearview mirror, this week will be Mother Nature's reminder we're in the midst of fall. Temperatures tonight will have no trouble dropping into 40s, a range we should expect each night this workweek. Clouds are fading into evening, setting up at least decent view of the northern horizon. There's a small chance faint auroras will be out there tonight. With partial clearing expected to develop tonight, conditions remain mildly spicy for auroras. We're still hovering around G2 at the moment. If this holds after dark, at least some chance of seeing the northern lights could be a thing later this evening. pic.twitter.com/VYJJXJOiC3— Eric Snitil (@EricSnitilWx) October 7, 2024 Cooler air holds tight tomorrow with a few lake effect downpours around. Expect highs close to 60 degrees Tuesday. I doubt we get out of the 50s Wednesday with scattered rain showers still a thing. We'll start to dry things out Thursday and (slightly) warm things back up Friday. While we will not be impacted, the main weather focus nationally will be Hurricane Milton. As of this posting, Milton is a CAT 5 with maximum sustained winds of 180 mph. While it will weaken some before Florida landfall late Wednesday, it will very much remain a powerful hurricane.
