Man falls from downtown Santa Cruz building, dies on Pacific Avenue

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. (KRON) -- A man fell from a building in the center of downtown Santa Cruz Saturday afternoon and died on Pacific Avenue, police said.
The victim fell from one of Palomar Inn's fifth-story windows, police told KRON4, and landed on the pavement below at 2:40 p.m.
Detectives are investigating to find out what circumstances led up to the man's death. "Detectives are following up on all possible avenues to determine if there is any evidence of foulplay. The identity of the male and his cause of death are pending verification by the Santa CruzCounty Coroner," the Santa Cruz Police Department wrote.
Lookout Santa Cruz reported that hundreds of people were on Pacific Avenue while officers investigated the scene. One witness told Lookout that he was walking out of Palomar Inn when he felt something strike his arm. "I look and a body is right there," he told Lookout.
