HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Henrico County will be hosting an Extension Bug Bizarre on Saturday, inviting community members out to celebrate entomology. According to the county, the Henrico Extension Bug Bizarre will be held on Saturday, Oct. 12 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Deep Run Recreation Center, located at 9900 Ridgefield Parkway. The community event is a festival that aims to celebrate all the joy and excitement associated with entomology -- the study of insects. The event is free to attend and will include the opportunity to look at live insects, insect-related displays, hissing cockroaches, tarantulas and a "bug zoo." Attendees can also expect to hear from experts as they share information regarding pollinators, garden insects, forest pests, public health and other bug-related subjects. The Henrico County office of Virginia Cooperative Extension is working together with the Henrico Division of Recreation and Parks to organize the event. The county encourages people of all ages to attend, as there will be various activities for children to enjoy. For more information, contact Associate Extension Agent Quinn Bracken at 804-501-5160 or [email protected].
