RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) - Get ready for some big changes for the remainder of this work week folks, due to that strong surface cold frontal passage that swept through on Monday morning. Monday night into Tuesday morning, will bring us clear skies overnight and much more seasonable temperatures for October standards, as we will see lows dipping down into the lower 50s. Tuesday will be a delightful day with lots of sunshine, much lower humidity and highs in the lower 70s. Wednesday will be another very nice day with partly sunny skies, as we will see some clouds from Hurricane Milton to the south of us and highs in the lower to middle 70s. Thursday and Friday of this work week will be quite cool with highs both days in the upper 60s to around 70 degrees and mostly sunny skies both days as well. Looking ahead to the weekend, we will be in for another warming trend with highs on Saturday nearing 80 degrees under partly sunny skies and highs on Sunday in the lower 80s under partly sunny skies. Next Monday and next Tuesday appear to be much cooler once again, courtesy of another surface cold frontal passage, bringing our temperatures back to below average once again by early next week. The big weather story across the United States this week will be Major Hurricane Milton. This tropical system has rapidly strengthened as it is in a very favorable environment for overall strengthening. It will make a possible landfall on Wednesday this week around the Tampa Bay area of Florida, still as a Major Hurricane. Here in Central Virginia, we will not see any impacts at all from Milton, thanks to a strong high-pressure system that will be overhead protecting us from that tropical cyclone. Central and Southern Florida is in for lots of rainfall leading to flash flooding, damaging winds, power outages, isolated tornadoes, and storm surge flooding.
