HOLDEN, Mo. — Witnesses say a reckless driver caused a bad Friday night motorcycle crash, and didn’t stop to take the blame. Now, the Missouri State Highway Patrol wants to know who was at the wheel. The crash leaves a motorcyclist in the hospital, needing at least two surgeries. The incident happened late Friday night along Missouri Highway 50 near Holden and Pittsville in Johnson County. Bikers who were there never saw it coming from behind them. MLB explains why they ruled Yankees 3B Jazz Chisholm safe on steal “I happened to look in my mirror, and I saw my buddy’s bike tumbling,” Jonathon Triplet, an avid motorcycle rider, said on Monday. Triplet was panicked by the incident, which happened around 10p.m. Friday. He told state troopers his friend, Dan Hill, 58, was riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle had been smashed into by an erratic driver. The two bikers were out for a late-night ride. An MSHP spokesperson said the only description they have of the oncoming vehicle is that of “a light-colored pickup truck.” “I didn’t see it coming and the guy passed me on the shoulder. He could at least have the guts to stop and come back and check on somebody. Just to keep going? That’s uncalled for,” Triplet said. Triplet said Hill is still in the hospital, being treated for a broken nose, wrist and ankle from the crash. Triplet said both riders were wearing helmets. “I wish the person would say — I’m sorry. I did this. So you can get your tickets or whatever they’re going to do to you,” Triplet added. Andy Bell said there’s no reason for the drivers to crash into the motorcycle, since Hill was in the right hand lane. Trp. Bell believes the driver was speeding and weaving in traffic, and the smallest bit of information from the public will be helpful. “If you didn’t see the crash, maybe you saw this driver that passed you and potentially ran you off the road, or almost hit you. Any description — bumper stickers, stickers in the back window, loud exhaust,” Trp. Bell said on Monday. Triplet says Hill has at least two surgeries ahead of him, and the one on his wrist can’t happen until his swelling goes down. If you know who was driving that pickup truck on Friday, please call the Missouri State Highway Patrol at (816) 622-0800.
