CAMPBELL, Wis. (WFRV) - Authorities in western Wisconsin are reminding campers that it is unlawful to camp on town property and vacant private property. After an uptick in camping on town property and vacant private land, the Campbell Police Department issued a social media statement of a city ordinance that prohibits the action. Department of Natural Resources: Crews contain a 6.5-acre fire at a state park in Wisconsin "It shall be unlawful for any person to camp as defined herein on town-property," reads the ordinance. "Camping means to establish or maintain, at any time during the day or night, a temporary or permanent place for cooking or sleeping with intent to remain in that location overnight." Additionally, citizens who discover camping on private-owned property are encouraged to contact law enforcement for assistance with removal. Wisconsin State Patrol helps safely find a missing 74-year-old hunter "We intend to be proactive and enforce violations promptly," added the Campbell Police Department on its social media page.
